Hey all of you ‘68ers!
Plans have really shaped up for our 40th Reunion Weekend
April 18, 2008

Plans to gather that week have expanded to cover a Thursday night Meet up at the Kemah Boardwalk’s “Rock the Dock” Concert Series. The scheduled band is The Fab Five. As the name implies this band does a lot of Beatles music plus other great 60’s era tunes. The show is free and starts at 6:30p and goes to 10p or so. For out-of-towners, the Kemah Boardwalk is where Jimmy Walker’s Restaurant (now Landry’s) used to be at the channel connecting Galveston Bay and Clear Lake.

Friday night’s Mixer at the South Shore Harbor Resort Hotel is still on tap. The gathering is Poolside and the Oasis Room starting a 6pm. The cost of admission is covered by your Saturday night Gala ticket purchase so if you are attending Saturday night’s festivities you are welcome Friday night as well. This will be an opportunity to get registered for the Gala in advance so that there is no line for you to contend with on Saturday night. The Alumni Committee Group will be there as well to make sure they have your contact information for staying in touch with you after the reunion.

Saturday during the day will be a time for groups of classmates to get together and get involved in activities or just visit. There is a Golf Scramble set at South Shore Harbor Country Club on Saturday morning and of course the Clear Lake area offers lots of opportunities for fun water activities, Space Center Houston, Kemah Boardwalk and many other items of interest. The pre-reception area in front of the Crystal Ballroom (where the Gala will be held on Saturday Night) will be reserved for our use during the day Saturday. We will have some displays of interest. A tribute to our Fallen Classmates and a tribute in honor of our Class’ Military Veterans will be a centerpiece for visitation. This will also be the area for registration for the Gala that evening as well as the place for those who have not already registered with the Alumni Committee to do so. Again, the Alumni Committee will be the group that will keep us all in touch after this Reunion is over.

Saturday night will be terrific. We will have more High School memorabilia on display. A great DJ will be on hand to play music suitable for our age group. A professional photographer will be in the foyer to capture you and your friends on photo. There will be food. Also there will be cash bars for those that like adult beverages. Of course, there will be all of those people that were such a big part of your coming of age. You will see the kid that grew up down the street from you as well as that cute guy or gal that you had a crush on way back when. Those of us that have attended any of the numerous pre Reunion gatherings know how wonderful the feeling is to see your classmates. Just by being with the people with whom you were a child with makes you feel young again.

Sunday morning plans are to have as many people as we can to stay and join in the Hotel’s Breakfast Buffet. This will give us that one more opportunity to visit, hug and/or shake hands and wish each other well before we go back to regular lives.

These are the plans so far but they are sure to evolve and expand so please keep you eye open for more announcements.

See you in June in League City !!

Happy New Year 68er's!
Class of 1968 – Fortieth Reunion Update
January 9, 2008

We apologize for the relative quietness over the past several weeks. It has not been due to the fact that nothing is going on. Quite the contrary as there has been quite a bit going on. Part of this has been the "normal" Christmas and other Holiday activities but part of it has been reunion related stuff. The committee has exchanged many emails and met again in person on Friday, December 28. We must tell you that things are really getting exciting as the countdown to the Gala weekend has now officially begun.
